King of Moab
Second Kings chapter three...Mesha King of Moab goes to war against Israel now that Ahab is dead. King Joram (son of Ahab) gathers the king of Judah (Jehoshaphat) and King of Edom to go to war against Moab. Jehoshaphat seeks the counsel of a prophet of God, illuminating the spiritual deficit of Israel. Through music, Elisha prophesizes God's victory over Moab. Moab is defeated and the chapter ends with King Mesha sacrificing his own son & successor to the Moab god Chemosh. The Moabite stone from 850 BC discovered in 1848 recounts this chapter and one of the earliest references outside the bible of the one true God, Yahweh. When have we made a decision without seeking God? God gives us lots of evidence to believe who He is, what He's done, is going, and His promises are true.
