Laws are Wonderful

Aug 6, 2023    Jason Pace

This sermon was preached on 08/06/23 at First Christian Church in Wilmington, Illinois.

Sometimes, when we think of God's law, we consider it restrictive. It prevents us from doing what we want. Instead, we should look at the law as freeing. The law gives us direction to keep us and others safe. Following that direction frees us from doing what will harm us or others. God’s law protects life and is a ticket to life itself. It is the source of life and, therefore, the source of the psalmist’s joy. God’s law was not created as a measuring stick for goodness. It is not a religion, not a system of beliefs that are built on our achievement of righteousness and how good we are, and it is not meant to measure versus others. All God’s law points to Jesus and is fulfilled by Jesus.

All sermons are live-streamed and recorded at 10:00 am CST every Sunday on our Facebook and our YouTube channel.
